Facebook Messenger ads will be shown to users
Facebook is the world’s largest social media website having millions of active users. The Facebook Messenger is also one of the world’s largest messaging app. The Facebook Messenger was 100% ad-free till now just like WhatsApp. According to some leaked document intended for Facebook advertiser that reveals plans to begin inserting ads into Messenger in Q2 2016. That’s mean the Facebook Messenger is no more ad-free. Facebook users can’t chat via the Facebook app. Users have to download the Facebook Messenger to chat with their friends. Now Facebook is ready to take advantage of this.
According to leaked documents the Facebook Messenger will allow companies to send ads as messages to users given that the user has started a chat conversation with the company. Facebook has created a new URL short link “http://fb.com/msg/,” which automatically opens up a chat thread with a company when clicked, could quickly make Messenger a powerful advertising platform. This ad functionality looks like it can only be initiated by users and never businesses. To begin receiving ads, a user must always be the first to start the conversation. Companies won’t be able to push out ads en masse to Facebook users who merely liked their product page.
Messenger is one of Facebook’s most popular and fastest-growing products. Right now facebook messenger has 800 million monthly active users. Regarding Facebook Messenger Ads Company’s official statement:
“We don’t comment on rumor or speculation. That said, our aim with Messenger is to create a high quality, engaging experience for 800 million people around the world, and that includes ensuring people do not experience unwanted messages of any type.”
That last part sounds like Facebook trying to reassure users that even when there are ads, they won’t be completely unsolicited, and it’s going to be very careful. But we have to watch the activities of Facebook for more. Facebook is aggressively moving forward to ads, which are the main source of revenue.
