Huawei announced a new smartphone named Huawei Honor 5X in CES 2016. This year in CES most devices were in budget and mid-range segment.  The latest smartphone from Huawei is growing this list and take place in the “premium but affordable” category. The device carries a sub $200 (In India Rs. 12,999) price tag. The honor 5X officially released in the US and India. The latest budget friendly honor 5X offering good at this price tag. Huawei Honor 5X Review of Design:

The Huawei Honor 5X comes in metal body which is key feature of the device. But the device looks and feels are like plastic. In these days most devices are launching in the metal body. After having metal body it weighs only 158g. The device measuring is 151.3 x 76.3 x 8.15mm. On the back side there is a camera and single-tone LED flash at the top. The fingerprint sensor is right below them. The Honor logo and regulatory text take place at the bottom. The device appearance is just like Nexus 6P and the Huawei Mate 8. The honor 5X has diamond-polished and ceramic-coated aluminum alloy housing.

Huawei Honor 5X Review of Display:

The Huawei Honor 5X features 5.5-inch full HD IPS display having 1920 x 1080 resolution. The display density is 401PPI which is standard for 5.5 inch display size. The sharpness and clarity of display is great. The display is quite impressive as well, and features vibrant colors that are not too over saturated with the whites being neither too warm, nor too cool. Text on the display is sharp and clear. It has 72.5% screen-to-body ratio and fully-laminated screen that renders vivid and crisp images. The saturation levels appeared well-balanced so it delivers an excellent display.

Huawei Honor 5X Review of Processor:

The Huawei Honor 5X powered by a 64 bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC chip clocked at 1.5 GHz. The processor is backed by the Adreno 405 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. There is a 3GB RAM variant of device but not available in India. The device has 16 GB of on board storage and supports microSD card. The honor 5X delivers superb data connectivity in the LTE network. It comes with WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1, USB 2.0, GPS, AGPS, Glonass etc. The overall performance of the device is decent.

Huawei Honor 5X Review of Camera:

The Huawei honor 5X has a 13 MP rear camera with SmartImage 3.0 image processor to ensure clarity in every shot. The camera features wide F2.0 aperture, 28 mm wide angle lens with five elements and macro mode for close-up shots from just a few centimeters away. The camera app is the same as on the Honor 7, having same set of controls and features. It has features like Panorama mode, HDR, watermark, slow motion video, beauty mode and audio note. The rear camera can record full HD videos @ 1080p resolution. The slow motion mode allows you to capture video at 120 fps to enable playback at four-times slower than real life. The 5MP front shooter has 22 mm wide-angle lens with four elements, F2.4 aperture, large 1.4 micron pixel size and 88-degree viewing angle for panoramic selfies.

Huawei Honor 5X has 3000mAh (Li-polymer) embedded battery. The battery backup is decent but not so impressive. The battery lasts for 9 hours, 26 minutes in video playback test. The device runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system out of box. It will be soon upgraded to latest Android M. The feature packed EMUI 3.1 includes a host of new features and some improvements. It includes new privacy features let you hide home screen apps, store personal files in a safe place and protect sensitive information. The off-screen gestures allow you to opening pre-configured apps. These things make it faster, efficient and lighter.

Conclusion of Huawei Honor 5X Review:

The device comes with dual speakers having unique smart power amplifier and crystal-clear audio quality. Speaker volume is 18.84 percent louder with excellent audio range. The device has excellent display, sleek design and a batter camera at affordable price. But there are some key shortcomings. The battery backup is not so good. The device comes with only 2GB RAM which has an impact on the performance.
