Asus Zenfone Zoom launched with 13MP camera and 128GB storage priced at Rs 37,999
Asus has finally launched its much awaited Asus Zenfone Zoom smartphone in India. The launch event was held at Agra in Uttar Pradesh. The Asus ZenFone Zoom is the first and “world’s thinnest smartphone having 3X optical zoom in camera.” The device is packed in a metal construction with the 3X optical zoom feature with a 10 element lens. The smartphone is available to purchase exclusively via Flipkart. The Asus stores will sell the Zenfone Zoom starting from February 2016. Jerry Shen, CEO, Asus said in their statement:
“Photography has become extremely important for today’s smartphone users. They want to capture every precious moment of their lives on their smartphone cameras, and also be able to perform multiple tasks with the same device. With Asus ZenFone Zoom, we are introducing an unbeatable smartphone that complements today’s lifestyles and puts professional photography within the reach of everyone.”
In terms of specification the Asus Zenfone Zoom features 5.5-inch FHD IPS displays having resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixel at 403 PPI. The Zenfone Zoom is powered by the 64-bit Z3590 Intel Super Quad-core CPU clocked at 2.5GHz. The smartphone is packed with 4 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 64GB/128GB of internal storage options. The interesting feature at storage front is that it supports microSD card upto 128 GB. That mean the storage capacity can be expended upto 256GB. The device is measuring 158.9 x 78.84 x 11.95 mm and weighs 185 grams with battery.
The main highlight of the Asus ZenFone Zoom is its 13-megapixel PixelMaster rear camera with 3X Optical Zoom and 10-element lens. The camera features optical image stabilisation (OIS) with up to four stops and dual-LED Real Tone flash. The device also includes Asus’s laser auto-focus technology that is claimed to be able to focus in on objects in just 0.03 seconds. The Asus Zenfone Zoom camera app supports long exposures of up to 32 seconds. The device can capture super-resolution images of up to 52 megapixels. Back Light (HDR) mode with ASUS PixelEnhancing Technology for up to 400% brighter, and evenly exposed photos. The Asus Zenfone Zoom comes with manual mode for DSLR-like camera detail settings.

In terms of connectivity Asus Zenfone Zoom features with WLAN 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi direct, Bluetooth 4.0+EDR, GPS/A-GPS, USB 2.0 and NFC. The LTE device supports only one Micro SIM. The ZenFone Zoom has an accelerometer, ambient light, gyro, proximity, digital compass, and a hall-effect sensor. The device comes with a huge 3000mAh battery. The Asus Zenfone Zoom runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop having Asus ZenUI on the top. The 128GB variant of the device is priced at INR 37,999.
