Xiaomi Mi 5 to launch in February with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset
Finally the official news from Xiaomi! Company is ready to launch its Xiaomi Mi 5 in this February. It may be launched on the Chinese New Year festival, which will be celebrated on 8th February 2016. The device is packed with the Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 chipset. It will be the first Xiaomi device which will have Snapdragon 820 processor. Recently LetV launched world’s first smartphone to have Snapdragon 820 chipset named LeTV Le Max Pro.
Liwan Jiang, co-founder and senior VP of Xiaomi took to Weibo to confirm that the Mi5 will come with Snapdragon 820 and has entered mass production as well. He also stated that the company is ready to launch the Mi5 after the Chinese New Year. There are some leaked images in the past that show off the front and back of the device. The front appears to have a 2.5 D glass while the back is similar to the Mi Note. According to Images there will be no capacitive touch keys at the bottom. A slim capsule-like fingerprint reader will be there as a home button.
According to some previous leaked product listing the Xiaomi Mi 5 will sport a 5.5 QHD display (2560 x 1440 pixels resolution) and pixel density of 515 ppi. Device is packed with 64bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz paired with the Adreno 530 GPU. It will have 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 16/64/128GB internal storage options. There will be no microSD card slot as previous devices. We are expecting a 20MP camera on the rear and an 8MP front shooter. The device may contain a USB Type-C port at the bottom.
